The event that took place at London's Science Museum last night was supported by both William and Harry with a common goal: praising young people who have made their best efforts on behalf of Princess Diana.
William attended the event alone as his wife, Kate Middleton, continued to recuperate after abdominal surgery in January. Meanwhile, Harry sent a video from his home in California to congratulate the award recipients. However, Harry's video was only played after William had left.
This is an awards ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the only charity organization named after the late princess - Diana Legacy. It was founded two years after the late Princess of Wales died in a car crash in 1997. "It is an honor to receive the support of both princes, especially as we celebrate our 25th anniversary," said Tessy Ojo, Diana Legacy CEO.
Last year, William and Harry also participated in an event honoring outstanding young people voted by the Diana Awards. Harry participated in a Q&A in Los Angeles, and William sent a pre-recorded video.
The fact that the siblings continue to avoid this year's event is said to be because they have not yet reconciled after many conflicts. In his memoir Spare , Harry even calls his brother his "archenemy". For his part, William also repeatedly refused to meet his younger brother in private and was determined not to let Harry return to royal duties even though their father, King Charles III , was undergoing cancer treatment.
