The royal couple, Prince William and Princess Catherine, made waves once again during their recent trip to Boston to attend the Earthshot Awards. The visit marked their first time back in the US in eight years. For the important occasion, Catherine opted for a stunning outfit that she did not own, opting instead to rent it, which fit perfectly with the environmental theme of the evening.
The rental option turned out to be not only cost-effective, but also fashionable and eco-friendly. Interestingly, while the outfit looked luxurious and high-end, the reality is that any woman in the UK or US who wanted to buy a similar dress could have done so. It was recently reported that the cost of renting this particular dress from Solace London for four days was around a hundred dollars.
Catherine’s outfit matched the green carpet at the event perfectly, much to the delight of those in the fashion industry. Furthermore, her look bore a striking resemblance to Princess Diana during her state visit to Malaysia. Not only did Catherine wear a vibrant green dress, she also wore an emerald necklace that had previously belonged to Queen Mary, a piece that Diana often wore.
This particular piece of jewellery was originally received by Queen Mary in India in 1911 and was originally a long necklace before being adapted into a choker. Diana treasured the necklace and wore it on many occasions, including using it as a headband during her 1985 tour of Australia.
The Earthshot Award is a traditional award given to initiatives that focus on environmental protection in a number of key areas, such as waste reduction, ocean restoration, clean air and climate change.
